Betamethasone and Salicylic acid are combined in this medicine.
This medicine is used to treat scaling of the skin. It helps relieve inflammation, redness and itching of the skin.
Apply Betamethasone + Salicylic acid exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not use more or less than instructed by your doctor.
This medicine is available as a lotion or as an ointment.
To use this medicine, follow these steps:
- Wash your hands and dry it before applying this medicine.
- Apply a thin layer in the affected area. Rub it gently on the skin until it disappears.
- Do not cover, wrap or bandage the area being treated.
- Wash your hands after each application.
Avoid contact of this medicine with your eyes or mouth. Rinse immediately if the medicine accidentally gets into your eyes or mouth. Alert your doctor if you start to have any problems with your eyesight.
Betamethasone + Salicylic acid must be used regularly and within the given medication timeframe for it to be effective. Do not stop using it unless instructed by the doctor.
Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule. Do not apply more than what is instructed by the doctor to make up for the missed dose.
Alert your doctor if you have the following conditions:
- other skin infections caused by bacteria, virus or fungi
- inflammatory skin diseases e.g. perioral dermatitis, rosacea
- tuberculosis of the skin
as this medicine may not be suitable for you.
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Do not apply the medicine in large areas of the skin.
Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it worsens.
Betamethasone + Salicylic acid may cause any of the following side effects: burning, stinging sensation, dryness, peeling, thinning, and swelling of the skin.
Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Inform your doctor if you are using any other creams, ointments or other medicines on the affected area.
Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
